Late Winter Concert Tonight!!!

7:00 p.m. in the PAC

This is a benefit concert for the Haiti so all donations will be appreciated.

Sounds of Spring Raffle Tickets

If you missed the meeting last night, don't forget to stop by the Band Parents table tonight to pick up your tickets.  There is an envelope for each Band member's family with 20 tickets and instructions.  Tickets will be available starting at 6 p.m., at intermission, and after the concert!

BAND NEWS - February 28, 2010

Kudos

Kudos to all the solo and ensemble students and the drum line students who performed so well at the various competitions Saturday.  Solo and Ensemble results will be posted as soon as available.  The Winter Drum Line placed 4th in their first competition Saturday night. 

Nominating Committee

Nominating committee is still looking for a couple of members; if interested please contact lbaker.cavalierband@yahoo.com. We will be taking nominations from the floor at Wednesday’s meeting.  Next year’s slate of officers (president, treasurer, secretary, and 4 vice presidents – concessions, fundraising, operations, & performance) will be presented at the April meeting, voted into office at the May meeting, and officially take office June 1st.

Symphonic Dresses

Please make sure all Symphonic Band girls have taken home their black dresses and made sure it is hemmed properly for the March 4th concert. Please wear black dress shoes.  No flip flops.  These dresses can stay home until the last concert in May. Symphonic guys must wear their tuxedoes for the concert as well.  Don't forget black socks and shoes. Letter Jackets

Letter jackets should be here Friday the 26th.  Mr. Vise will let you know when you can pick them up.  Our last Letter Jacket fitting this school year will be Tuesday, March 2nd during lunch in Band Hall 2.  This is mainly for the Sophomore band members who completed 2 marching seasons in band, plus participate in all region auditions both years and solo & ensemble auditions both years.  Also, any Junior and Senior who did not purchase a jacket yet but must qualify under Mr. Vise's terms:
1.   Complete 3 marching seasons in band, or
2.  Complete 2 marching seasons in band, plus participate in all  

     region auditions both years and solo & ensemble auditions  

     both years

We do this Spring fitting so that these Sophomores who completed their eligibility for the jacket can enjoy wearing it for two years in high school.  Any questions, please contact Kristi Sisk at ksisk@austin.rr.com.

Seniors and Senior Parents --

Band banquet senior video preparations are underway! For the annual senior video, shown at the Band Banquet and a copy of which is included in the senior gift bag, we need 3 photos of each senior. Traditionally, the photos include a baby picture, a senior picture, and an in-between picture. The in-between picture can be any age and can be goofy or serious, posed or unposed – your choice! Electronic format is preferred and you can e-mail these photos to brendaslay@sbcglobal.net. (The file can be JPEG or any other image file type.) For photos not in electronic format, please place them in an envelope and drop them in the band parent mailbox in Band Hall 2. We will get the photos back to you. Questions? SPRING TRIP
Spring Trip - Outstanding Balances/Late Trip Payments

Attention Parents and Students! All outstanding trip payments/balances must be paid by Wednesday, March 10th or your student will lose their spot on the trip! Chaperone balances must be paid by the 10th as well. Statements of outstanding balances have been emailed as of March 1, 2010.  Please note that late fees have been assessed and you are responsible for payment of these fees as well. Please contact Debra Dwight at ddwightjr@austin.rr.com or 263-4904 if you have questions or concerns.

In addition, any students wanting to add on to the trip must do so by Wednesday, March 10th.  Please contact Susan Dwight at sdd@austin.rr.com or 261-3009 if your child is currently not signed up on the trip but would like to attend. BDA’s are eligible to attend our trip.

Spring Trip is Still Needing Chaperones!

Please, Please, Please, consider chaperoning for our spring trip!  We are still in need of two more moms and two more dads to make our trip a success.  It’s not just the students who have a good time on these trips!  Think fun in the sun, splashing in the ocean, surfing and parasailing, horseback riding, fishing, and of course working on your suntan!  Oh and you have the wonderful opportunity to keep our students well supervised and safe!  Aren’t they worth it? 

 

Trip dates- Thursday, May 20th – Sunday, May 23rd in South Padre Cost of the trip is $526.00 per chaperone (sorry, no financial aid for chaperones). NO, you do not have to chaperone your own child, in fact, we prefer you don’t!  Trip includes: 3 nights lodging at the Sheraton (only two chaps per room!), all breakfasts, dinners and three of four lunches.  It also includes a ticket to Schlitterbahn and a party on the beach the night we arrive.  To sign up or for more information please contact Susan Dwight at sdd@austin.rr.comor 261-3009.

Roommate Sign Up

Students will have the opportunity to sign up for spring trip rooms after we return from Spring Break.  This year we will have 4 students per room. If you are a chaperone and your child would like you to be their chaperone, they must indicate this on the sign up sheet.  Sorry, Dads cannot chaperone groups of girls.

T-shirt Design Contest

Information will be given to students in class soon.  It will also be posted on the band website for those students who are attending the trip but are not in spring semester band.
