Lake Travis ISD Band Directors
Lance Brightwell joined the Cavalier Band beginning with the 2008 Marching Season as Assistant Band Director/ Percussion Instructor. He also teaches percussion students at Hudson Bend and Lake Travis middle schools. Previously, Mr. Brightwell served two years as Assistant Band Director at Midway High School and Middle School in Waco ISD. (512) 533-5818
Steven Hopkins, Lake Travis High School and Lake Travis Middle School Assistant Band Director, is joining the Lake Travis Band family from Leander ISD where he was an Assistant Director at Henry Middle School. Steven is a graduate of Texas State University where he performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, Bobcat Band, and Trombone Ensemble. He is an alumnus of the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps where he marched from 2001-2005. Outside of the public schools Steven has been on the instructional staff for Bluecoats, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Colts Drum & Bugle Corps. At LTHS, Steven will be assisting the Cavalier Marching Band and Concert Bands and at LTMS he will be teaching beginning brass and directing the LTMS Concert Band.

Kevin Jedele is in his seventh year as Band Director at Lake Travis Middle School. Mr. Jedele previously taught in Eanes ISD, where he served as Assistant Band Director at Hill Country Middle School. He brings to us years of successful teaching experience and a wealth of knowledge and talent. Mr. Jedele is a graduate of the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Longhorn Band and the Wind Ensemble. He has worked as a musical instructor and camp coordinator for the Longhorn Music Camps. His primary instrument is trumpet, and he is a member of the Austin Symphonic Band. Kevin is married to Tania, and they have two young sons.
Ryan O'Donoghue,
Hudson Bend
Middle School Band Director, grew up in Plano and was drum major of the
Plano East Marching Panther Band. He was a National Merit Scholar
and attended Florida State University, from where he graduated in
December of 2004. Mr. O'Donoghue is in his fifth year as a
professional music educator. His primary instrument is clarinet
and secondary is baritone.
Joshua Mello, Hudson Bend Middle School Assistant Band Director, received his undergraduate degree in music education from Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a meember of the marching band, wind ensemble and orchestra. His primary instrument is oboe. Previously, Mr. Mello was an assistant band director at Los Fresnos High School in Los Fresnos, Texas.
